Compostable Packaging creates Edible Earth too.

Your compostable packaging is not ‘waste’ it is a token for good.

Let’s break it down.

Breaking down compostable packaging, how to do it, who’s doing it and everything you need to know to do your part.

Let’s talk about compostable packaging, often the elephant in the room, sometimes it is praised, sometimes it’s picked apart, and more often than not people just don’t know what to do with it, and that’s just the problem.

Compostable packaging is designed to, yep, you guessed it - be composted! But not all packaging is created equal and it’s not as simple as popping it in your garden bin at home. That’s why at Edible Earth we work with forward thinking businesses who take responsibility for their compostable packaging and we do the dirty work for them.

It’s called product stewardship and it looks a little something like this:

Welcome to the Edible Earth Movement. Where your rubbish is not waste, it is a token for good. When you drop off your Edible Earth certified compostable packaging at our Collection Boxes it will be composted and do good things for people and Earth. We are currently running a localised trial period with Whittakers and For The Better Good, in and around Wellington. Our composting for this trial is happening at our Edible Earth Community Farm in Porirua, with the hope for a nationwide roll.To find out more about Whittakers compostable packaging journey click here.To find out more about For The Better Good and their circular bottle economy click here.Apart from that, stay tuned for more Edible Earth updates and initiatives by signing up to our email newsletter here.
